Fomors

Fomors
(Fomhoire)
In Celtic myth the fourth dynasty of ancient Ireland, succeeding that of the Firbolgs and preceding that of the Tuatha Dé Danann. They appear to have developed from the Fir Domnann, who were one of the subdivisions of the Firbolgs. Like the Firbolgs they were a maritime race and it is possible that in both cases there were many expeditions to Ireland before a settlement was attempted. They were eventually defeated by the Tuatha at the battle of Mag Tuireadh. (Magh Tuiredh)
